My initial research (PhD) focused on Inuit parenting, child maltreatment and resilience in Inuit territories (ethnohistory) and contemporary Greenland (ethnography).
In 2007, I co-founded the Uummannaq Polar Institute (UPI) with the leaders of the Uummannaq Children's Home, with the aim of providing scientific, artistic and cultural resources to young Inuit in the Uummannaq community, while promoting Greenlandic culture abroad. Since 2014, I have added environmental abuse to my research interests, working on the collective resilience, adaptation and sustainability of Arctic communities in the face of climate and environmental change with a transdisciplinary approach (international projects ARTisticc, SeMPER and PREFER). Most recently, I co-ordinated the InterArctic research project, which experimented with a knowledge co-production approach involving Inuit students in Greenland and Nunavik.
When time allows, I am interested in Arctic filmmaking and have co-written and/or co-produced films such as "Inuk" (2012) for cinema and a handful of documentaries for television.
